Fox axes Alcatraz and The Finder

Fox has axed J.J Abrams struggling series Alcatraz and Bones spin-off The Finder.

Neither cancellation is particularly surprising and in fact ATV Today had tipped both shows to be cancelled. Fox opted to renew J.J Abrams other series Fringe for a final season rather than give Alcatraz a second season, why? Well even know Alcatraz rated better in the end Fringe had a fanbase already, its very loyal and creates a lot of media buzz. Alcatraz is a new show that has not rated well or established itself well and not even the J.J Abrams name tag saved it.

The Finder, the highly anticipated spin-off from Bones, was widely expected to be dropped because of its disappointing ratings. While Bones has been given a new season order by Fox and continues to perform well the spin-off failed to settle down and find itself a large enough viewer base.

It’s not all bad news though because Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch has been renewed for a second season despite its modest ratings. Fox has also picked up Kevin Williamson’s serial killer drama The Following, previously known as Mastermind. The drama will star Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. Fox has also picked up Mob Doctor starring Jordano Spiro.
