TBS Rescues Cougar Town
TBS has stepped in to rescue ABC comedy series Cougar Town from the axe.
It’s official; TBS has ordered a fourth season of Courtney Cox comedy Cougar Town which will air in early 2013. The broadcaster has also picked up the rights to the first three seasons of the comedy, totalling 61 episodes, allowing it to repeat the series at some point.
“Cougar Town is a smart, whimsical sitcom that draws its humor from likable, relatable characters. We are thrilled to have Cougar Town moving to the TBS neighborhood as the network continues to expand its slate of original comedy series.” – Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS
While Cougar Town generates a lot of buzz it hasn’t generated the kind of ratings ABC would like. It was widely seen as a candidate for cancellation but in the past week reports emerged claiming TBS were interested in picking up the comedy. For once those rumours turned out to be true and just a few days later it’s been confirmed Cougar Town will indeed switch channels.
