Shonda Rhimes drama Private Practice will be back for a sixth season after ABC renewed the drama yesterday. The renewal of the medical series came just hours after ABC confirmed it had renewed parent series Grey’s Anatomy for another series. Private Practice was recently moved to a Tuesday night slot, uncoupling it from Grey’s Anatomy, which was seen by some as a sign ABC wanted rid. Then came rumours that the drama would be renewed for a sixth and final season – there’s no word yet whether ABC’s renewal is along those lines or not.
ABC has also renewed fellow Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal for a second season. Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan drama Body of Proof has been renewed for a third season. The drama was also seen as a “bubble show” but experts point out Body of Proof‘s strong international sales could work in its favour – and seemingly they have. New comedy series Don’t Trust the B— in Apt. 23 has also been renewed by ABC in a move sure to annoy the Parents Television Council.
