The Vampire Diaries Leads Teen Choice Awards Nominations

The Vampire Diaries and American Idol both have bagged themselves five nominations in this year’s Teen Choice Awards.

Teen drama Gossip Girl and Nikita both bagged themselves four nominations. The Teen Choice 2012 Awards will air on Sunday 22nd July.

In the Choice TV Show Drama category the 2011 winner Gossip Girl has once again secured a nomination; the CW drama has just been renewed for a sixth and final series. Also nominated are Bones, Pretty Little Lairs, Revenge and Touch. In the TV Actor Drama category Gossip Girl actors Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick both are nominated while Bones’ David Boreanaz and Touch’s Kiefer Sutherland are also nominated.

In the actress category Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester, Ringer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar and Bones’ Emily Deschanel are nominated as are Emily VanCamp for ABC’s soapy drama Revenge and Pretty Little Lairs’ actress Lucy Hale. In the Fantasy Drama Show category the 2011 winner The Vampire Diaries is nominated along with fellow CW drama series Supernatural. Another vampire show to recieve a nomination is HBO’s True  Blood while cult favourite Fringe is also in the category and ABC’s Once Upon A Time.

Ian Somerhalder, who won last year, and Paul Wesley are both nominated in the Fantasy/Sci-fi actor category along with both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki of Supernatural and Joshua Jackson for his role in Fringe. The Vampire Diaries also has two nominations in the Actress category with Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham both getting nods with Ginnifer Goodwin for her Once Upon A Time role, Anna Paquin for her True Blood role and Fringe’s Anna Trov also nominated.

In the action show category cancelled/ended shows Chuck and CSI: Miami are up against NCIS: Los Angeles, the 2011 winner, along with Hawaii-Five O and Nikita. In the Action Actory category there’s another nod for the recently cancelled CSI: Miami with Adam Rodriguez nominated and Chuck’s Zachary Levi is also nominated. LL Cool J for NCIS: Los Angeles, Daniel Dae Kim for Hawaii Five-O and Shane West for Nikita – the 2011 winner – are also in the category. As for actress Nikita’s Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca are nominated along with Chuck’s Yvonne Strahovski, NCIS: Los Angeles’ Linda Hunt and Hawaii Five-O’s Grace Park.

In the comedy category 2011 winner Glee is up against New Girl, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls. Actor wise Aston Kutcher, Ty Burrell, Chris Colfer, Neil Patrick Harris and Jim Parsons also nominated. Actress wise Zooey Deschanel, Lea Michele, Kaley Cuoco, Miranda Cosgrove and Sofia Vergara are nominated.
