Rod Stewart to guest judge X Factor auditions

Rod Stewart has been hired to guest judge at the X Factor auditions.
The main auditions begin next week but the show is still one judge short after failing to sign former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue. It is thought that a deal was close to being signed by Minogue decided to pull out at the last minute.
Producers will continue to search for a new judge to join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh on the show.
The Mirror newspaper claims that the exact details for Stewart to judge at some of the auditions are to still be ‘ironed out’ with a show source adding that Simon Cowell is ‘thrilled’.

“The details are still to be ironed out but it looks like he’ll be at the auditions next month in London and possibly Glasgow because of his Scottish heritage… It’s a big coup to get him involved and Simon Cowell is absolutely thrilled.” – A show source speaking to The Mirror.

The first auditions in front of an audience will be filmed next Wednesday in Liverpool. Katy Perry, who recently split from comedian Russell Brand, is favourite to become a full time judge. She has previously been on as a guest judge and has performed on the live shows.
The X Factor returns on ITV 1 in August.
