Jim Parsons Comes Out As Gay
Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper on the hit CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory, has revealed he is gay.
The award-winning actor revealed he was gay and in a ten-year relationship in a New York Times profile on him. The profile was to promote Parson’s role in the Broadway comedy play Harvey. The play is about a man and his invisible friend’ a six-foot-tall rabbit called Harvey.
However, the profile also touched upon Parson’s other theatre roles including his work in last year’s production of The Normal Heart which was set during in 1980s New York during the AIDS epidemic. The New York Times profile on Parson’s states “The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship”
Parsons will reprise his role from The Normal Heart in Ryan Murphy’s forthcoming film adaptation according to The Advocate. The magazine also notes that Parsons thanked Todd Spiewak, who it notes is his partner, at the podium of the Golden Globes ceremony when he accepted his trophy for his role in The Big Bang Theory.
