France 24 journalist Romeo Langlois released
France 24 has announced that their correspondent Romeo Langlois has been released.
The French journalist was taken hostage by Colombian FARC rebels since 28th April after they staged an attack on an army convoy who were on an anti-drugs operation.
He was injured in the arm during the attack but its thought that he has now recovered and is in ‘good health’. The rebels did not confirm that they had captured him until earlier this month.
France 24 said that he was released 1.34pm Colombian time in the region of Florencia, where he was met by representatives of the International Red Cross and the special envoy of the French President.
Footage of Langlois being released has been shown on local Colombian television. France 24 has broadcast a live interview with his parents, who were overjoyed to hear the news of his release.
