Corrie Musical Street of Dreams Actors Refuse To Work

Actors on the troubled Coronation Street musical Street of Dreams have reportedly staged a mutiny.

The actors, such as Julie Goodyear and Bill Roache, are refusing to work until the cast are paid The Mirror reports. The musical was due to go on tour around the UK followings its premiere in Manchester but the tour was delayed so producers could work on “script issues”. There is still no details of when Street of Dreams will resume its UK tour – if at all. There are now rumours the musical will be cut all together.

“It is absolute chaos and a complete farce. The actors, wardrobe department and make-up girls are all owed thousands. There are single mums in the show who cannot afford to keep going like this. They are massively out of pocket……One of the wardrobe ladies was even made to order in some stuff off her own back and has not been reimbursed. Cast members have had to provide their own costumes. It is a disgrace. There is every likelihood the show will be axed altogether. The cast backed a move to hold all the equipment to ransom, refusing to give it back until their wages are settled.” – A ‘source’ in The Mirror

The musical stars current Corrie regulars Kym Marsh, Bill Roache and Katy Cavanagh and former cast member Julie Goodyear with comedian Paul O’Grady narrating the play. O’Grady was supposedly dropped from Street of Dreams after he slammed the producers in an interview with The Stage newspaper.
