Grace Jones for I’m A Celebrity?
Singer and actress and all round famous for being ‘off the wall’ Grace Jones is according to a tabloid being lined up to star in the ITV reality series.
Jones, who had music success in the 70s and 80s and appeared in films including James Bond movie A View To A Kill and Conan the Destroyer with Arnold Schwarzenegger is apparently on the ITV ‘must have’ list for the celebrity reality series after performing for the Queen at Monday’s jubilee concert.
A show source told The Sun, “Grace… is perfect for I’m A Celebrity. We all watched her incredible performance at the Jubilee gig and it reminded us just how brilliant she is.
“She’d power through those Bushtucker trials like nobody’s business — or just throw a diva strop. The prospect of Ant and Dec getting to grips with her antics every night would be TV gold.”
In the UK she became more famous for slapping up chat show host Russell Harty while plugging her music career revival in the mid-1980s than for her actual talent. Other bizarre moments include appearing on chat show Wogan, to sing Slave to the Rhythm, entirely covered from head to toe in black fabric – hiding her face for most of the performance to the amusement of Terry Wogan.
The newspaper suggests ITV executives have offered Jones £250,000 to go into the jungle, but would the diva really want to rough it in the jungle alongside D-list has-beens?
The 64-year-old told The Guardian last year, “God I’m scary. I’m scaring myself.” So if she does venture into the jungle of I’m A Celebrity… the creepy crawlies better be afraid, very afraid.
