Labour beaten in vote for Jeremy Hunt inquiry

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has survived a commons vote for inquiry.
The Labour motion was rejected in a vote asking if there should be an inquiry into whether Hunt has broken the ministerial code. The opposition had been leading calls for him to be referred after details emerged of his ‘closeness’ with News Corporation during the failed BSkyB last year.
Prime Minister David Cameron has continued to back his Culture Secretary and is ‘satisfied’ that no rules have been broken regarding the ministerial code.
The debate beforehand got heated when Labour MP Chris Bryant accused Hunt of lying. The Tories called the language Bryant used as ‘unparliamentary’ but speaker John Bercow ruled that it was not.
Tomorrow the PM will face a full day of questions in front of the Leveson Inquiry.
