Diamond Jubilee Concert Peaks At 17 Million Viewers

BBC One’s coverage of the Diamond Jubilee Concert proved a hit with viewers on Monday evening with a peak audience of nearly 17 million viewers.

The all-star concert was held in front of Buckingham Palace with thousands of people in the Mall watching while millions more watched at home. The Diamond Jubilee Concert featured performances from JLS, Dame Shirley Bassey, Gary Barlow, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

Overnight figures reveal that the concert attracted an average audience of 14.6 million viewers. Ratings peaked at 16.8 million viewers in the closing moments of the concert as Prince Charles paid tribute to the Queen before a spectacular fireworks display.

The Queen is only the second monarch to reach 60 years on the throne with Queen Victoria reigning for 63 years.
