Two Corrie stars sign new contracts

Coronation Street actors Ryan Thomas and Alan Halsall have signed new contracts.

Tyrone has been in Weatherfield since 1998.

Daily Star Sunday reports that the actors have signed a new one-year contract keeping them with the popular ITV 1 soap until next year. Ryan plays builder Jason Grimshaw alongside Alan who plays mechanic Tyrone Dobbs.

They were signed by Phil Collinson, Coronation Street’s current producer, who has come in for strong criticism from fans over the past few years for decisions regarding storylines and hirings, most notably Michelle Collins who plays landlady Stella Price.

The Price Is Wrong, Stella proved a turn-off.

“Tyrone is one of the Street’s most-loved characters so there was no way Phil was going to let him go anywhere.” – ITV source speaking to the paper.

Tyrone first appeared on the street in 1998 and has been a prominent feature since. Jason arrived along with the Grimshaw family at the turn of the new millennium in 2000.

Jason was first seen in 2000.
