Channel 4 strike gold with Gillian Wilson

Executive Gillian Wilson is to join Channel 4’s commissioning team as Head of Features after a spell with production company Spun Gold TV, possibly best known as the company behind ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Show.
Wilson worked as Director of Formats and Features at Spun Gold TV and was responsible for commissioning prime time features and popular factual formats including Jennifer Saunders’ first ever factual Series for ITV, Ben Fogle Swimming With Crocodiles for BBC2, as well as several upcoming series for Sky and Discovery.

Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer, Jay Hunt said: “Gill is a creative firebrand with a great track record in delivering unmissable features shows. She will be a brilliant addition to the team.”

Prior to this, Gillian was Executive Producer at Endemol UK where she created, developed and sold numerous formats including BBC3’s Snog, Marry, Avoid?, Hotter than my Daughter and Working Girls. She has also executive produced formats including Channel 4’s What the Butler Saw and Single Again.

Gillian Wilson said: “I am delighted to be joining Channel 4 at such an enormously exciting time. The features department has the most tremendous programming and talent, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Channel 4 say that Gillian will be responsible ‘for managing the Features team whilst creating the department’s future strategy. She will ensure Channel 4 remains at the forefront of popular factual television by originating, developing and commissioning innovative new programmes for features slots.’
