Gordon Ramsay to stay with Channel 4

Ramsay, more famous on TV for his swearing than his cooking, has reportedly signed a one-million pound deal to remain with the broadcaster.

The Michelin starred chef according to a tabloid paper has signed a one-year deal which involves making, at minimum, three new programmes across the 12 months.

A source close to the celebrity chef told The Sun, “Gordon is excited to be signing for another year. The eight-year partnership has produced some of the highest rating shows on Channel 4… …Gordon’s on great form and thrilled to be back on Channel 4 next week.”

Ramsay returns to Channel 4 with a new format next week which sees him venture into the world of prison in the four-part series, Gordon Behind Bars. The show is described as a thought-provoking and occasionally moving look at Ramsay’s efforts to set up a catering business with the inmates of HMP Brixton.

“I don’t like it when it’s over-comfortable, too easy, something that can be done in two or three weeks. I like a challenge. And personally, I’ve dealt with these kind of guys on many occasions, whether in a Young Offenders Unit when we were filming The F Word, or dealing with my little brother, who’s been an addict for 15 years. When we were filming in the Young Offenders Unit in Leeds, seven years ago, that’s when I started to think of the huge missed opportunity in these places. There was so much excitement and boisterousness from the guys in there, but they had nothing to do in there, none of it was being harnessed.” Ramsay says of the series.

Gordon Behind Bars starts on Tuesday June 26th, Channel 4
