EyeSpy: Remembering Brian Hibbard

Actor and singer Brian Hibbard has died aged 65. His acting career saw him appear in soap operas Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders. As part of the music group The Flying Pickets he saw chart success.

He became the sideburn, 1950s fashion styled, lead singer of cappella band Flying Pickets reaching number one with their version of Only You in 1983. They also covered several other classic tracks including former Motown song, Young and In Love.

After the music success Welsh born Brian ventured into acting with parts in Wales’ own soap Pobl Y Cwm and his most recent serial appearance last year in BBC One’s EastEnders. Other soap roles included parts in YTV’s Emmerdale and Granada’s Coronation Street. Film roles were also to his credit including Twin Town and Rancid Aluminium.

Hibbard was born in Ebbw Vale on the 26th November 1946 and died on June 17th 2012 after reports suggest a battle with Cancer, his agent however has not revealed any details on the cause of death as yet.
