Sky Atlantic opens it's Newsroom

Sky News need not worry, the UK isn’t getting another news show instead Sky Atlantic is bringing the HBO drama series The Newsroom to UK audiences.

The ten part series, created by Academy award® winner Aaron Sorkin of The Social Network and The West Wing fame, is an inside look at cable news programme News Night and the men and women behind it.
Without a wiff of Jeremy Paxman the show follows anchor and managing editor Will McAvoy played by Jeff Daniels and his new executive producer MacKenzie McHale, actress Emily Mortimer. Then there’s their staff: senior producer, associate producer, researcher and financial analyst thrown into the drama mix.
Also making frequent appearances in the offices are News Night’s former executive producer and President of the news division who together set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal relationships.
Sky also state that joining the series as a recurring guest star in later episodes will be Academy award® winner Jane Fonda as parent company CEO Leona Lansing.
The Newsroom premieres on Sky Atlantic HD on Tuesday 10 July at 10pm.
