Bones Creator Hart Hanson Denies Series Is Ending

Bones creator Hart Hanson has denied reports that the forthcoming 8th season of the Fox drama will be its last.

Actor David Boreanaz sparked speculation over the future of Bones after a series of tweets on Twitter which pretty much declared the drama was coming to an end. Boreanaz wrote he would be a “free agent” next Spring and noted the Bones panel at Comic-Con would be part of a “fare-well tour” for the series.

However, Bones creator Hart Hanson has told Entertainment Weekly there are currently no plans for the drama to end and he is not treating the 8th season as its last. Hanson told the entertainment news site ” We are in no way planning for it to be the last season. I mean anything can happen in a complicated world, but we’re very, very confident in having at least a season 9, and I can see as far as season 10 before my eyes get misty”

Interestingly though David Boreanaz and co-star Emily Deschanel’s contracts run out at the end of the 8th season. So could Boreanaz be hinting he will quit Bones for pastures new hence all those Twitter remarks? Or is the actor trying to get the ball rolling on negotiations over a new contract?. “If he is, then man, hats off to him. I would like him to consult with my agents next time if he’s thinking that far in advance” Hanson joked to EW.

Bones spin-off series The Finder was recently cancelled by Fox after just one series because of low ratings. Ratings for the seventh season of Bones were noticeably down but were still relatively healthy given the fact its been on-air for some time now.
