Desperate Housewives Ends On Ratings High For E4

Desperate Housewives reached its conclusion on Sunday evening in the UK with a ratings high for broadcaster E4.

The soapy drama starring Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria ended on Sunday evening after eight seasons. Desperate Housewives ended on ABC in America on May 13th – roughly a month before the episode Finishing the Hat aired on E4. According to overnight figures the episode was seen by 1.1 million viewers which represents its best performance on E4. A further 260,000 watched via E4’s time-shift channel giving the episode a combined audience of roughly 1.3 million viewers.

The Desperate Housewives finale was the most watched multi-channel programme of Sunday evening. Terrestrial television was dominated by the Euro 2012 coverage with 5.8 million viewers watching Italy and Spain clash at 4pm while 6.6 million watched Ireland and Croatia play each other at 7.15pm on ITV1.

Elsewhere on Sunday evening new Louis Theroux documentary, on male porn stars, entertained 1.8 million viewers while fantasy drama Once Upon A Time on Channel Five had just over 1 million viewers.
