Matt Barbet and Ranvir Singh join Daybreak

Matt Barbet and Ranvir Singh have been signed up to present Daybreak.
The pair will front the first hour (6am – 7am) of ITV 1’s Daybreak as the breakfast programme looks set for its first major change since it replaced GMTV in 2010. Today’s announcement mirrors the old GMTV Newshour, which was presented by Penny Smith and John Stapleton.
Last month it was announced that Aled Jones will be joining breakfast veteran Lorraine Kelly as the main faces of Daybreak. They will present from 7  – 8.30am. Lorraine has confirmed she will continue to presenter her female orientated programme from 8.30.

“I’m hugely excited to be joining the team at ITV. During my career to date I’ve been privileged to cover some massive stories, from the Afghan war to the Royal Wedding, and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to my new role on Daybreak.” – Matt Barbet

Matt is currently the main anchor of Channel 5 News and Ranvir was recently the main presenter on BBC’s North West Tonight. She left to go on maternity leave in May but the BBC confirmed shortly after she would not be returning.

“I’m very excited about joining Lorraine, Aled and Matt. We’ll be buzzing with all the morning news and having a laugh along the way I hope. I can’t wait to get started!” – Ranvir Singh

He confirmed on his Twitter account that he will be leaving Channel 5 News after 5 years saying: “sad to leave all my friends at 5News but after almost five years, a fresh challenge is due.”
Daybreak airs weekdays from 6am on ITV 1.
