Reports suggest Ann Curry 'fired' from Today Show

Ann Curry is set to be replaced on the US morning show ‘Today’.
The New York Times reports that the co-anchor of the Today show is to leave after the show seen a decline in ratings over the past year.
Ann replaced Meredith Vieira in June 2011 after being with the show as news anchor since 1997. Speculation was raised about Curry’s role at the morning programme after NBC announced that Vieira would return as special correspondent, covering the recent diamond jubilee celebrations and the upcoming London Olympics.
The Today show team will be broadcasting from London next month for the games although its not sure if Curry will be part of the team. Its reported that executives want to sort out arrangements before leaving America. The NYT reports that bosses are looking to move her into a different role within NBC News.
Co-anchor of Today, Matt Lauer, signed a new multi-year deal earlier this year with NBC to remain at the show.
Rival ABC’s Good Morning America has been closing the gap in terms of viewer-ship over the past year and managed to take the lead for one week.
