Sherlock Picks Up Two TV Critics Choice Awards

BBC One/PBS drama Sherlock was amongst the winners at the 2012 TV Critics Choice Awards.

The modern-day updating of Sherlock Holmes picked up Best Movie/Mini-Series at the TV Critics Choice Awards. Sherlock, penned by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, was up against fellow British drama’s The Hour, Page Eight and Luther as well as Game Change and American Horror Story in the category. Meanwhile lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch won Best Actor in the mini-series/movie category beating Dominic West, Bill Nighy and Idris Elba.  Cumberbatch’s Sherlock co-star Lara Pulver was nominated in the Actress category for Mini-Series/Movie but Julianne Moore of HBO‘s Game Change picked up the award.

Showtime drama Homeland picked up Best Drama Series beating AMC‘s critical darling Mad Men as well as other popular dramas such as Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey and The Good Wife. Homeland actress Claire Danes picked up the Best Actress award beating Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery and Man Men‘s Elisabeth Moss. Best Actor went to Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad.

Mad Men didn’t go home empty handed though as Christina Hendricks picked up the Supporting Actress award – having previously won the same category before. Lucy Liu picked up the Best Guest Performer award for her appearance in TNT drama Southland – the actress will next be seen as Dr. Watson in CBS‘s Elementary.
