Showtime's Weeds To End

It has been announced that the 8th season of Showtime‘s comedy drama Weeds will be its last.

It looks as though Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) is about to sell her last lot of pot as Showtime announces that Weeds will bow out of eight seasons. The decision to end Weeds is not overly surprising given it’s had a very good run so far but nothing last’s forever especially in today’s cut throat world of television.

“There were two shows, Weeds and Dexter, that really got Showtime taken seriously for cutting-edge original programming…How they get brought home is really important. In this case, both for the sake of the two women behind the show and an audience that’s really invested in the show. TV fans love nothing better than to complain about how shows end and we really want to end this one the right way.” – David Nevins, Showtime entertainment president.

The final season of Weeds will air on Showtime later this Summer and will resolve the cliff-hanger at the end of the seventh season..
