Three arrests over inappropriate payments

Officers from Operation Elveden have made three more arrests over allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.


A 40-year-old-man, a former prison officer, was arrested at his home in Corby, Northamptonshire, on suspicion of corruption ; suspicion of misconduct in a public office and suspicion of money laundering offences under Section 328 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested at her home address in Corby, Northamptonshire, on suspicion of aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office and suspicion of money laundering offences under Section 328 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
The third arrest was made in Croydon, Surrey where a A 31-year-old man was arrested at his home in Croydon, Surrey, on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt; and suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office. He is being questioned at a south London police station. The two from Corby are being questioned at a police station in Northamptonshire.
Today’s arrests are the result of information provided to police by News Corporation’s Management Standards Committee. They relate to suspected payments to a public official and are not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately.
