Chris Moyles to leave Radio 1 Breakfast Show

Chris Moyles announced live on air this morning he is leaving the breakfast show.

He has been the host of the Radio 1 breakfast show since January 2004 and became the longest serving in 2009, beating Tony Blackburn.
Radio 1 are currently in talks with him about a new show on the station as he is still in a contract with the national radio station until January 2014. He has been with the station since 1997, hosting the early morning programme before making it to the weekday afternoon slot.

“A couple more months of us and then it’s someone else’s turn to have a go, so thanks for listening and I hope you stay with us until the end because I promise it’s going to be brilliant and for those people who are thinking Jesus it’s just a radio show stop banging on about it, you don’t get it, and for everyone else who does get it – you know it’s all about me.” – Moyles speaking this morning

Controller of BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra Ben Cooper has praised his work and the “incredible talent” he has as a broadcaster.
