Doctor Who Returns In August
The seventh season of Doctor Who will kick off on BBC One next month according to lead star Matt Smith
The actor, who plays the 11th (official) incarnation of the Time Lord revealed the news at a panel at Comic Con in San Diego on Saturday. The actor revealed the opening episode, Asylum of the Daleks, would air on BBC One during August. However, an exact air date for the episode was not given.
An August launch date wouldn’t be out of the ordinary; Let’s Kill Hitler, the mid-season premier of the sixth season, aired last August on BBC One. Asylum of the Daleks is already scheduled to be screen at a BFI event in London August 14th and at the Edinburgh International Television Festival which runs from August 23rd to 25th.
It would be logically to assume therefore that a late date in August is the most likely premier date for the opening episode. The seventh season of Doctor Who is to be spilt with five episodes airing this year followed by the Christmas Special with the remainder airing next year in the show’s 50th anniversary year.
