ATV Reports: Fred Karger Ends Republican Presidential Campaign

Gay Republican presidential candidate Fred Karger has ended his campaign.

The American politician ended his bid to be the Republican Party’s presidential candidate last Thursday in a not so surprising move. Karger ended his bid for the candidacy in a speech to his supporters while standing under a photo of a fat lady singing!

“After 2 ½ years of campaigning as a candidate for President of the United States I am officially ending my historic campaign today June 29, 2012. It’s been one hell of a ride, and I want to thank the thousands of people across this country who volunteered, contributed, opened their homes, came to our events and cheered me on.” I plan to rest up for awhile and then I will be back at it to help in the fight for LGBT equality.” – Fred Karger

Karger told the American gay magazine The Advocate he would not be endorsing Mitt Romney “It is hard to endorse a candidate for president who signed the hateful ‘Marriage Pledge’ sponsored by known hate group the National Organization for Marriage”

Fred Karger is the latest Republican presidential hopeful to drop out in the race for be named the party’s candidate. Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have all ended this bids with all sharing similar views on gay rights and gay marriage in-particular.

Michele Bachmann famously said gay and lesbians did have the right to marry – members of the opposite sex. Rick Perry recorded a controversial video message claiming there was “something wrong” with the country when “gays” can “serve” in the American military but children “can’t celebrate Christmas” in schools. Rick Santorum described marriage as a “privilege” and not a “right” and therefore barred to gay people. Santorum also said the legalisation of gay marriage would lead, further down the line, to group marriages being legalised.
