Channel 5 calls in the Removal Men for a second outing
The Removal Men is to return for a second series on Channel 5 following a well received first series which had an average of 1.2 million viewers. The new series will air for six hour long episodes.
The documentary follows the fortunes of some of the millions of Britons who move house every year and the hired lads who help them.
Andrew O’Connell, Head of Factual, News and Current Affairs at Channel 5 comments: “I’m delighted that the first series of The Removal Men proved so popular with our viewers. In this series we can expect more drama from as the guys at Pickfords who travel the length and breadth of the country moving our nation.”
Second to death and divorce, moving home is said to be one of the most stressful things we will ever do. Yet we are nation obsessed with moving. The average Britain moves 7 times in their life. And when we do there’s a good chance we will meet the guys from Pickfords, the largest removal company in the UK. Every year their crews get through more than a million cartons, enough bubble wrap to cover 150 football pitches and about half a million cups of tea to help a staggering 250,000 people move home within the UK and overseas.
“Filming the second series was fascinating. Not only did we get a sense of the incredible logistics that make an operation like that possible, but we also got a rare glimpse of some very stressful moments in the lives of the people that they help move. Sometimes sad, often funny, it’s a good watch, but be warned, moving house is always an emotional roller coaster ride!” adds Lionel Mill, Executive Producer for Tiger Aspect.
