Classic Car's to be rescued by Channel 5

Classic Car Rescue is a brand new programme for Channel 5 which will be presented by car fanatics Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione. The pair will scour the UK, Canada and the US to find the most shameful rust buckets to return to their former glory.

Andrew O’Connell, Head of Factual, News and Current Affairs at Channel 5 says: “We are always looking for fresh on screen talent and are delighted to be working with Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione on Classic Car Rescue. This show will see some of the world’s most beautiful cars lovingly restored and we are thrilled to give viewers the opportunity to win one of the vehicles featured in each episode.”

Central to each of the six episodes is the mission to follow up leads to find a dilapidated iconic car from an E-Type Jaguar to a Porsche 911 to a 1950s Cadillac, and lovingly restore each one to its former glory. The show will reveal the classic car’s impact on the world, how it transformed the image of a nation, in some cases turned around a country’s flagging economy, and created new methods of manufacturing.

CGI will whizz through the suspension and around the motor as we explore the technological innovations that make up these extraordinary vehicles. The programme will employ archive to tell the car’s history, revealing the inspirations’ of the designers, and how they introduced new technology and why their creation was such a success.

Dan Chambers, Executive Producer added: “This is a truly turbo-charged car show like no other. Mario and Bernie are gripping characters – Bernie’s regular angry outbursts are off-the scale. And there’s heaps of fascinating take-out about the world’s most interesting cars.”
