Doctor Who US Return Date Revealed

The seventh series premier of Doctor Who will air on BBC America early in September.

The premier date for Doctor Who‘s American broadcast has been revealed even though it’s UK return date has yet to be announced. New promos for Doctor Who reveal the long-running sci-fi series will air its seventh season premier, Asylum of the Daleks, on September 8th at 9/8c.

UK viewers are still waiting for a launch date for the seventh season. Matt Smith hinted that an August launch date was likely while showrunner Steven Moffat has merely stated Doctor Who will return “soon”. It is highly unlikely the series will premier in the US before the UK; last year’s season opener were screened on the same day in both countries although the time difference meant it aired in the UK first.

The seventh season will be spilt in half with the first five, the last episodes to feature Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as Amy and Rory Pond, will air this year followed by the Christmas Special which will introduce Jenna-Louise Coleman as the sci-fi’s new companion. The remainder of season seven will air in 2013; Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary year.
