STV Player joins YouView in Scotland

The STV Player has joined the YouView line up on set top boxes within Scotland.
STV was selected as one of the first of two initial additional content partners from over 300 expressions of interest from potential partners. Sky’s new internet TV service, NOW TV, is the other additional content partner.

Alistair Brown, Chief Technology and Platforms Officer at STV said: “YouView represents a major development in the evolution of TV in the UK offering an exciting new way for viewers to watch and move between live and catch-up TV. It is great that STV is one of the first content partners to go live on this new and innovative platform.”

Viewers can watch STV programmes live as well as catching up on shows such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and X Factor via the STV Player or through the search function plus the YouView programme guide.

YouView offers subscription-free digital TV, catch-up and a selection of pay TV. Users are able to move from watching live TV to watching catch-up through a simple backwards programme guide.
YouView brings together catch-up and traditional TV from all the main channels in one easy to use place. Viewers will have access to more than 100 digital TV and radio channels, seven day catch-up and on demand programmes from the content libraries of STV, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 – all delivered to the viewer’s main TV.
