Science Fiction Invasion proves popular in Northumberland

Sci-fi fans that fancy standing next to an alien or meeting a Dalek have been getting the chance to do so at a successful exhibition at Woodhorn, which is entering its final few days.

Woodhorn Museum says the event is a truly out-of-this-world experience with costumes, props and even robots from favourite TV and sci-fi film blockbusters all on show.

“Unearthly beings will shock and amaze you, monsters mesmerise, space suits scintillate and robots rivet you to the spot.” They state.

Featuring in the exhibition, which has proved a huge hit since it opened earlier this year, are costumes from Star Trek: Enterprise, Andromeda, Red Dwarf, Lost in Space and The Chronicles of Riddick. There are aliens from Star Wars, X files, Doctor Who and of course Alien itself. And no sci-fi exhibition would be complete without a range of robots; check out the machines from Red Planet Robot, Robocop and ABC amongst others.

Woodhorn’s Exhibition Officer Liz Ritson said earlier this year, “People have flocked to see this show with over 5,000 visitors in the first few weeks. We have transformed our gallery space so it provides the perfect atmosphere and backdrop for this exhibition. It really is a super show whether you are a real fan or just enjoy a little escapism.”

Since then the museum say thousands more have enjoyed the science fiction event. The exhibition is due to end next week, so cult fans have only a few days left to enjoy it before the doors close on September 3rd.

Admission charge:  £3.95 Adult, £3.50 Concession, £2.95 Children and £12.50 (2+2) Famliy Ticket.

Woodhorn is part of Northumberland Museum and Archives at the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, Ashington in Northumberland.
