Christian and Syed set to leave EastEnders
The popular gay couple are set to break many hearts as the BBC confirms they are to leave EastEnders later this year.
Marc Elliott (Syed) and John Partridge (Christian) will leave in the next few months but how they leave is being kept under wraps by producers. Executive Producer Lorraine Newman has said that their storylines “broke boundaries”.
“Marc and John have been a fantastic part of EastEnders and the characters of Syed and Christian have been a huge success for the show. Their storylines have broken boundaries that have not been seen in a soap before and the love for them by the viewers can be seen in the “Chryed” fans.” – Lorraine Newman
Syed first arrived on the square in April 2009 as the eldest son of the Masood family. Christian appeared on screen a year earlier as Jane Beale’s brother.
“During this time, I have been blessed with some incredible storylines and am especially pleased that the show has tackled and raised awareness of the sensitive subject matter of being a gay muslim. – Marc Elliot
