Two journalists arrested by officers from Operation Elveden

Two journalists and a serving police officer have been arrested by officers working on Operation Elveden.


Operation Elveden is the investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.
A 51-year-old male from Bristol and a 32-year-old male from south-east London were arrested this morning and are currently being questioned by police. Both males are journalists although who they work for has not been disclosed.
Both journalists were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt and conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office, both offences contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1977.
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Wiltshire this morning on suspicion of misconduct in a public office, contrary to common law and suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1977. He is a serving police officer with Wiltshire police.
