Lily Savage (Paul O’Grady) in a promo for his LWT series Lily Live.
O’Grady will be plugging his latest book, Still Standing, the third instalment of his bestselling autobiography, live on stage at the Cambridge Theatre.
Paul O’Grady shot to fame via his comic creation, the blonde bombsite scouse prostitute Lily Savage. In his latest autobiography, Paul tells the no-holds-barred tale of Lily herself; the early years on stage, the journey to stardom and the hilarious misadventures along the way.
Lily Savage hosts Thames Television produced Blankety Blank on ITV.
Lily has a family history as seen in her own BBC TV series, The Lily Savage Show, which introduced us to her children and her sister, Vera. Savage also went on to host long running game show, Blankety Blank for both the BBC and ITV, as well as spending time as a chat show queen and comedy performer on Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast, Viva Cabaret and Late Licence.
Lily even turned to serious presentation for Channel 4 when she fronted a documentary on drugs and a more lighter look at sexual encounters.
‘Lily’ followed Les Dawson as host of Blankety Blank. The series launched by Terry Wogan back in 1979 for BBC One.
Since those dragged-up days, Paul slipped out of the frock and took to TV hosting as himself with popular series such as The Paul O’Grady Show and several documentary series
