Green Arrow Superhero drama shoots to Sky 1

Reinventing the DC Comics character, Green Arrow, for a modern day audience, Arrow is a superhero who’s every bit as dangerous as the criminals he’s hunting. The American series will begin ariing in the UK later this month.

After being marooned for five years on a remote island, billionaire Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell, Vampire Diaries, Hung) returns home with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime in this hard-hitting action series from executive producers Greg Berlanti (Brothers and Sisters), Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern), Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) and David Nutter (Smallville). But as a crime thriller with an emotional core, based around Oliver’s complex relationship with his family and friends.

Former fun-loving playboy Oliver Queen returns to Starling City a new man, having suffered unimaginable ordeals whilst shipwrecked and stranded on the island. He is determined to right the wrongs his father committed while amassing his fortune. Oliver has sworn to bring justice to the rich and powerful who have corrupted his city. But Oliver finds his crusade complicated by his emotional reunions with friends and family. Overjoyed by his miraculous return from the dead, the Queen family nevertheless still trades on secrets that will conflict with the Arrow’s agenda.

Oliver’s return also affects his best friend, Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell, Pan Am), who will ultimately travel down a dark path; and the love of his life, Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy, Gossip Girl), who must somehow forgive Oliver before she can ever love him again. A dark and dangerous crime procedural with edge, intrigue and action, Oliver’s story will be told from three perspectives: the Queen family, Oliver’s harrowing ordeal on the island and the Arrow’s adventures in Starling City.

Also joining the cast are David Ramsey (Dexter) as John Diggle, Willa Holland (The O.C., Gossip Girl) as Oliver’s sister, Susanna Thompson (Cold Case) as Oliver’s mother and Paul Blackthorne (24, The River) as Detective Quentin Lance. John Barrowman (Torchwood) and Colin Salmon (Resident Evil) will also play recurring roles.

Arrow begins on Monday 22nd October on Sky 1 HD, On Demand and on the move with Sky Go.
