'Cherry Clay' actress quits Doctors

Doctors star Sophie Abelson has left the BBC One soap it has been confirmed.

Abelson, who has played the role of Cherry Clay for the past three years, filmed her final scenes in the summer and will leave on-screen later this month.

“It’s very sad. I was there for three and a half years, I had an amazing time and it was a great experience. I learned lots and worked with some amazing people, but I felt that the time had come to move on and see what else was out there.

“Overall I miss the people a lot, and when I look back on my time on Doctors, it was fantastic. So it is sad, but it’s also exciting to think what the next chapter in my life might be.” – Abelson

Whilst no details of the character’s exit have been revealed, viewers can expect to see Cherry’s marital problems with Jimmi (Adrian Lewis Morgan) reach a climax prior to her departure.
Earlier this year Cherry slept with colleague Daniel Granger (Matthew Chambers) and has been desperate to keep their liaison under wraps ever since.
Doctors airs Monday-Friday 1.45pm on BBC One.
