Guinness World Record attempt by Destination Star Trek
Organisers of the Destination Star Trek London convention are appealing for help from fans to be a part of and witness Star Trek history by breaking the Guinness Book of World Records.
Star Trek fans across the country will have the chance to join together to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Star Trek characters, in celebration of the first convention about the franchise to come to the UK in over a decade.
The event planners are inviting all aficionados of the show to join in and register at the Main Stage at 6:00pm on Saturday, October 20th at London’s ExCeL Centre.
All participants who take part in the attempt will be awarded with prizes and goodies.
The Guinness World Record attempt will form part of what is set to be a magnificent weekend of parties, guest appearances, autograph opportunities and more. Whilst enjoying these amazing highlights, guests will have the chance don their Star Trek costumes and break the world record for the largest gathering of Star Trek characters.
The current record is held by the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention. In June last year, 1,040 fans descended on the Las Vegas Rio Suites Hotel in Las Vegas, USA, and celebrated the popular show with guest speakers, photo shoots and stunt demonstrations.
The Las Vegas Convention smashed the previous record which was held by FedCon in Düsseldorf, Germany, with exactly 691 fans attending the event along with stars of the show.
British fans have just over two weeks to source their outfits. With such a wealth of characters to choose from they need not be worried about costume ideas. The most popular costume is the iconic Star Trek uniforms with the instantly recognisable Starfleet insignia.
Visitors of the event who come in dressed as their favourite Star Trek characters will also be able to take part in our daily Costume Parades. Entrants will be judged in a variety of categories by our V.I.P judging panel for a chance to win prizes.
The eagerly anticipated Destination Star Trek London is the first official Star Trek live event in the UK in 10 years and will welcome all five legendary captains. Experts and special guests will be there to help witness this World Record attempt and hopefully celebrate a successful attempt from Destination Star Trek London.
Other exciting features at the event include: further picture and autograph opportunities, a replica set from the Star Trek series, a unique Star Trek Museum, Klingon workshops, stunt demonstrations, costume displays and lots more!
