EastEnders: Ava's son cast

EastEnders have confirmed the arrival of another member of Cora Cross’s long-lost family.

Later this month, viewers will meet Cora’s long-lost daughter Ava Hartman (Claire Perkins) for the first time after she is tracked down by a curious Tanya. Now bosses have revealed that Ava will shortly be joined by her 20-year-old son Dexter in the soap.
Actor Khali Best is taking on the role of Dexter, who makes his first appearance in the New Year, when he arrives in Walford looking for answers and to meet the family he knew nothing about.

Of his new role, Best told Digital Spy “I am delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders and working with such great actors so early in my career is an amazing opportunity. I am really excited to see what the writers have in store.”

Executive Producer Lorraine Newman adds: “Dexter is a force of nature: cheeky, forthright, confident but highly protective of his mum and vice versa. He’ll work at the Arches and be a great mate for Jay and Lola. I am sure he’ll be hugely popular with the audience.”

Dexter’s first scenes air in January 2013.
