Friday Photos: Conor Maynard, Rihanna, Eric and Ernie and more

ATV Today takes a look back at some moments from the past week in photographs including UTV’s celebration of their license renewal for ITV Northern Ireland, Conor Maynard sung from the top of a large erection Rihanna got turned-on and a classic duo returned to screens in a new celebration.

 

First up presenters Paul Clark and Sarah Clark of UTV Live are pictured in the news studio with the Managing Director of UTV Michael Wilson and Group Chief Executive of UTV Media plc John McCann who were celebrating the decision by the Secretary of State for Culture to renew UTV’s licence to continue broadcasting as the ITV service to Northern Ireland for another ten years. UTV launched in 1959 as Ulster Television. STV and Granada-Carlton’s ITVplc also all were renewed.

Yesterday, IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the opening of its Flagship Boutique in Beijing, China. Friends of the Brand and selected guests were among those in attendance at the spectacular unveiling ceremony in the Parkview Green Mall, followed by the premiere of the IWC Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia dedicated to Beijing, an evening to remember. Makes a change from another Amy Childs’ brand spin-off doesn’t it?

 

Earlier this week pop sensation Conor Maynard performed an intimate gig at the top of the BT Tower which was streamed live in HD on BT Infinity’s YouTube channel as part of Live from the 34th floor.

Speaking about the event Conor commented, “My career started off on YouTube with just me and microphone and now BT Infinity Presents has allowed me return to my roots, sharing the experience live with fans online.” he further added “I really enjoyed performing from the top of the BT Tower looking out over the whole of London!”

 

More than 15,000 fans descended upon Westfield Stratford City on Monday night for another festive light turn-on. Rihanna switched on the Christmas lights and performed her chart topping song ‘Diamonds’ from her new album Unapologetic which launched in the UK also this week.

Myf Ryan, Westfield’s General Manager, Marketing UK said: “Westfield Stratford City has had a sensational year breaking records with the largest customer visits and being the first shopping centre to be part of the Olympic Park. The lights switch-on event today with Rihanna was the perfect way to celebrate and offer as many dedicated fans and shoppers the opportunity to come along and enjoy this special performance.”

Rihanna is bringing her Diamonds tour to Europe in 2013 which sees her appear in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Sunderland.

GOLD began this week a look back to the great late Eric and Ernie in Bring Me Morecambe and Wise. The documentary, narrated by comedian Victoria Wood, charts the rise of Britain’s best loved comedy double act with each programme looking to different topics concerning the stage and screen partnership including  guest stars and the Christmas Specials.

In this new series, those who knew the duo best, including Eric’s wife Joan, talk about what made them become much loved personalities. Each of the five episodes has been described by UKTV as the ‘definitive guide to Eric and Ernie’. Famous faces, including Chris Tarrant, Stephen Mangan and Hugh Dennis talk about their love of the pair’s comedy.
