Actress Dinah Sheridan dies aged 92

Actress Dinah Sheridan, best known for her role in the British film The Railway Children, has died at the age of 92.
The news of Sheridan’s death was announced by her agent who said the actress died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday. Sheridan had a long and varied career on film and television but perhaps her most famous role was in the 1970 adaptation of The Railway Children which also starred Bernard Cribbins, Jenny Agutter and Sally Thomsett. Sheridan’s other notable film roles included Genevieve, 29 Acacia Avenue, The Sound Barrier and Appointment in London.
On television the actress played Angela Latimer in the BBC sitcom Don’t Wait Up between 1983 and 1990. Other notable television roles include Chancellor Flavia in the 1983 Doctor Who story The Five Doctors which marked the sci-fi shows 20th anniversary. Sheridan also made appearances in daytime soap Marked Personal, Crown Court, Keeping Up Appearances, Lovejoy and Hammer House of Horror. Dinah Sheridan’s last credited television role was in a 1999 episode of the popular BBC drama Jonathan Creek.
