Michael Vaughan exits Strictly Come Dancing
Vaughan’s Samba failed to be a Strictly hit with the judges as Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly invited the seven remaining couples to take to the dance floor as the final edges closer.
The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples. When all the votes were combined, Michael Vaughan and Nicky Byrne became the next two contestants to face the dreaded dance-off.
Vaughan with dance partner Natalie Lowe and Byrne with Karen Hauer attempted one last routine to impress Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood
Craig chose to save Nicky saying: “Well this couple were absolutely sensational, the second time round. That couple was Nicky & Karen” while Darcey also chose Nicky saying: “Well they both upped their game tonight. It’s really difficulty, but I’m going to save Nicky & Karen”
Bruno became the third judge to save Nicky saying: “Well I really have to go for the couple who for me had the licence to thrill… and that was Nicky & Karen”
With this unanimous vote, it meant that Michael Vaughan became the eighth celebrity to leave the competition.
Michael said “I’ve had a ball. Nine weeks ago I had never been on a shiny floor, and I’ve got to December. September, October, November and still dancing in December. I’ve drained every ouce of dance ability out of my body because of this lady… everything about this show, the judges and everyone backstage, all the contestants have been great, I’ve got new friends that I’ve made for life. Nicky thoroughly deserved that win, he wiped the floor with me! I’ve had a ball, and the real winner for me is this one [Natalie]. She got me to the ninth week, which is quite remarkable.”
On Sunday’s Results show, classical music sensation Alfie Boe performed the seminal classic Bridge Over Troubled Water with JLS singing their new single Hold Me Down.
Next week Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday 8th December at 6.50pm with the results show on Sunday 9th December at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
