Byrne says Goodbye to Strictly
Singer Nicky Byrne leaves Strictly Come Dancing, missing out on semi-final place to Denise Van Outen.
Nicky Byrne & Karen Hauer and Denise Van Outen & James Jordan became the next two couples to face the dreaded dance-off. After both couples had performed for a second time the judges delivered their verdicts:
Craig chose to save Denise saying: “I save Denise and James.” Darcey also chose to save Denise saying: “They were both very strong performances but I’m going to save Denise and James.”
Bruno was the third judge to save Denise saying: “They both improved, but the outstanding couple were Denise and James.” With this unanimous vote, it meant that Nicky Byrne became the ninth celebrity to leave the competition.
With the Strictly trophy in sight, six remaining couples had taken to the floor in a bid to impress the judges – Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli & Craig Revel Horwood – and the viewers at home. Next week the final five face the music and dance once more.
However its all over for Nicky who said “It has been just so much fun. It is the biggest and best show in the world. To come out every Saturday night is hard but it’s playing a different character, doing a different dance – it’s just been amazing. Karen, every week, every day has been incredible. We had a bit of a shaky start in terms of judges and stuff, but we just seemed to improve. I have to say thank you to the judges – you have been absolutely amazing with all your advice, all the people backstage – even the people that get you your coffee – I am going to miss the whole thing it’s been an amazing experience.”
Tonight’s results show also featured Grammy award-winning singer Michael Buble performing It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.
Next week Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday 15th December at 6.30pm with the results show on Sunday 16th December at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
