Comedy and Drama for Sky 1
Hit US dramas Hawaii Five-0 and NCIS: Los Angeles will return for their third and fourth seasons respectively while comedian John Bishop hosts a ten part comedy show.
Hawaii Five-0 gets its third series outing on Sky 1 in January with the season starting with quite a Hawaiian punch as it would be an understatement to say. Mrs McGarrett has got some explaining to do in the season premiere, amid the drama of nemesis Wo Fat breaking out of prison. We also find Chin Ho in a very dark place. On the plus side, an eclectic gathering of guest stars have booked their tickets to Hawaii, including Oscar® nominee Terrence Howard, as a shadowy figure who has history with Danno (Golden Globe® nominee Scott Caan), and Star Trek legend George Taakei.
Also returning to British screens is the highly anticipated fourth series of NCIS: Los Angeles. Series four explores the fallout from Callen’s decision and how it’s affected the team – will his bromance with Agent Hanna (LL Cool J) ever be the same again? Hetty (Linda Hunt), meanwhile, is struggling to adapt to life in retirement. The dramas return to Sky 1 on the 6th of January 2013.
While in the comedy department John Bishop hopes to bring laughter with his new series Only Joking.
John Bishop says, “Everyone likes to share a joke and we wanted to make a show that families could enjoy watching together. I’m really proud of what we’ve created. And let’s face it, we all need something to laugh at in January!”
The format deals ‘unashamedly in jokes and nothing but jokes’ Sky state. The ten part series is a weekly half-hour of laughter where Bishop is joined in the studio by a host of comedians past, present and new including Jason Manford, Andi Osho, Tom O’Connor, Katherine Ryan, Jason Byrne, Stewart Francis, Jimmy Cricket, Rob Rouse and Jason Cook amongst others.
“Meanwhile, the cameras have travelled the length and breadth of the country to hear members of the public and celebrities alike tell us their funniest jokes. Throughout the series, we’ll hear from Robbie Williams, Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp, Warwick Davis, Robbie Savage, Davina McCall and many more alike.” A Sky spokesperson says.
Phil Edgar Jones, Head of Entertainment for Sky, adds, “If there’s one person who’s guaranteed to put a smile on our faces, it’s John Bishop. The show is fantastic, traditional family entertainment with something for everyone. Lola Entertainment and Channel X have delivered a cracker.”
John Bishop’s Only Joking begins in January on Sky 1.
