Waterloo Road role for Angus Deayton

Angus Deayton on Comic ReliefTV presenter and actor Angus Deayton has been given a role in the next series of school drama Waterloo Road the BBC have revealed.
Deayton is best known for his 12-year role as quiz master on satirical series Have I Got News For You, which he was ‘sacked’ from ten years ago after revelations about his private life.
Previous acting roles included a long running part in BBC One sitcom One Foot In The Grave where he played the neighbour to Richard Wilson’s miserable Victor Meldrew. Other comedy parts include playing a newsreader and presenter on BBC Two’s spoof of Sky Television in KYTV, a regular performer and presenter on telethon Comic Relief and more recently in dark comedy Nighty Night.
Deayton is to play teacher George Windsor who the beeb say has been described as ‘some one who works to live, is sanguine, sardonic and deeply selfish’.
Waterloo Road is currently recording for its eight series, the second to be produced by the BBC in Scotland after the show relocated from the North West earlier this year.
Angus will be seen for the first time in episode 27 of series eight.
Waterloo Road returns to BBC One next year.
