Pope Benedict’s ‘gay bashing’ continues

Wedding DayHe’s spoken out against same-sex union in the past and now Pope Benedict has used his ‘peace’ message to take another pop at the LGBT community.

Passages from the bible are often quoted, often selectively, to suggest anything other than heterosexual is unnatural. Often other sins are overlooked such as being forbidden to eat shellfish, masturbation and most importantly mixing cloths – yes you mustn’t be seen in material mixed of wool and linen. The bible is the earliest example of the fashion police.

The Roman Catholic leader stated that a normal natural human must be presented as one who is wholly heterosexual. Failure to promote a “natural structure of marriage as the union of a man and a woman” he suggests would “harm and help to destabilise marriage, obscuring its specific nature and its indispensable role in society,” adding “the family is threatened in many places by a defection of human nature.”

Research has shown that many species have ‘gay and bisexual tendencies’ including penguins, bison, sheep, dogs, flamingos, pigeons, apes, dolphins and most recently German scientists observed same-sex sexual relations between male fish – to name just a few.

“The only difference between these creatures and humans is the animals can’t read the bible to know its ‘wrong’” says ATV lifestyle expert Queenie, she adds, “If its un-natural then these creatures, that can’t be taught homophobia, wouldn’t become involved in same-sex encounters would they?”

Lady Gaga, an open Christian, suggested people should ignore the mumblings of the Pope.

“What the Pope thinks of being gay does not matter.” She noted, continuing, “It doesn’t matter to the world. It matters to the people who like the Pope and follow the Pope.”

She added that his views shouldn’t tar all religious people with the same brush and that it was simply “a point of view of one person.”

Earlier this year author Dan Savage caused controversy when at a public engagement he commented, “The Bible. We’ll just talk about the Bible for a second. People often point out that they can’t help it — they can’t help with the anti-gay bullying, because it says right there in Leviticus, it says right there in Timothy, it says right there in Romans, that being gay is wrong.

“We can learn to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about gay people. The same way, the same way we have learned to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about shellfish, about slavery, about dinner, about farming, about menstruation, about virginity, about masturbation. We ignore bullshit in the Bible about all sorts of things.”

Same-sex marriages were on Tuesday to remain ‘banned’ from taking place in Church of England and Church of Wales premises Culture Secretary Maria Miller announced  to Parliament. This has been met with bemusement by the COE, according to press reports, which said there had been ‘no consultation’ about the proposals between religious bodies and the government and felt it made the church look even more out of touch with the general public.
Christian followers in England and Wales has declined by 13% in the past ten years while the non-religious population increased to 25% – up 10% from a decade earlier UK census information revealed earlier this week.
