Dawn French 'didn't think Dibley was funny enough'
Dawn French (pictured, left) has revealed that she nearly turned down the role of playing Rev Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley.
Speaking in a BBC Radio 4 interview for Desert Island Discs, she said that she nearly turned down the role as she did not think it was funny enough. She also revealed that she would have prefered to have played the role of Alice.
French said that the creator and writer of the show, Richard Curtis, would not let her play the role of Alice, of which she seen as a more funnier character to play.

The Vicar of Dibley ended in 2007 after 13 years and numerous comedy awards.
