Splash! Ratings Hold Steady
ITV’s new series Splash!, featuring Olympian Tom Daley, continued to enjoy ratings success on Saturday evening with only a slight drop in ratings.
The second outing of Splash! saw just a small fall in ratings despite being mauled all week by critics and media outlets. The celebrity diving series, featuring the likes of Joey Essex and Caprice, has been called a “new low” for ITV. Even celebrity contestant Tina Malone has branded the series as rubbish. Despite everyone lining up to give Splash! a kicking the series held its ratings on Saturday.
Overnight figures reveal that an average of 5.1 million viewers watched with an additional 250,000 watching via the ITV time-shift channel. That gives a combined audience of 5.3 million compared to the 5.5 who tuned in last week.
Once again Splash! had the better of BBC One‘s Britain’s Brightest, presented by Clare Balding, which had 4 million viewers. ITV dating game-show Take Me Out had 4.3 million viewers at 8.30pm. BBC One’s lottery show In It to Win It had 4.9 million viewers as did medical drama Casualty afterwards.
A repeat of comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys pulled in 4.2 million viewers; the repeat was of Monday evening’s episode which had 6.7 million viewers. Combining the audience together for the two broadcasts gives the episode a combined audience of 10.9 million viewers. The Irish comedy, starring and written by Brendan O’Carroll, once again out-rated The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV1 which was seen by 2.4 million viewers.
Splash!’s Tom Daley is currently Vivian’s Hunk of the Week.
