BBC Two comedy Hebburn to return for second series
A second series of BBC Two comedy Hebburn will air on the channel later this year.
Six new episodes have been commissioned to be followed by a Christmas special.
Hebburn stars Chris Ramsey as Jack, a North East lad, who secretly marries his middle-class Jewish girlfriend Sarah played by Kimberley Nixon.
The first series ended with the pair’s second sham wedding which was interrupted by Jack’s father Joe (Jim Moir) having a stroke.
The show’s writer Jason Cook said: “I’m obviously proper over the moon about the second series. Series one was so well received that we always had hopes of getting recommissioned but now it’s real! Having a Christmas special really is the icing on the cake; I got quite giddy when I was told we’d got that.”
Production will commence on the second series in the summer.
