Ratings Rise For Mrs Brown’s Boys And Miranda

BBC One comedies Miranda and Mrs Brown’s Boys both saw their ratings rise on Monday evening  after last week’s drop.

The two comedies saw their ratings bounce back with Mrs Brown’s Boys actually over-taking Miranda. At 9pm the third season of Miranda continued with 7.1 million viewers tuning in. At 9.30pm the latest episode of Brendan O’Carroll’s Mrs Brown’s Boys had slightly more viewers with 7.2 million – pushing the Irish comedy narrowly ahead of its BBC companion. It was recently revealed that Mrs Brown’s Boys was the most watched programme of Christmas Day with a whopping 11.6 million viewers.

At 9pm last night ITV drama Lewis, starring Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox, pulled in 6.1 million viewers as its new format continued. The Inspector Morse spin-off now airs stories in two parts, aired over subsequent weeks, instead of self contained “films”. The seventh season of Lewis could possibly be its last with Whately wishing to move onto new projects and Fox moving to America according to reports. However, fans of the Morse franchise can look forward to the return of prequel Endeavour (starring Shaun Evans) later this year for its first full series following the pilot episode which aired in January 2012.

Monday also saw ITV1 revert back to its former name of ITV which a major re-branding un-veiled across the network with digital channels ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 also revealing brand new looks. You can find out more about ITV’s new look here >>
