EastEnders star hospitalised following car crash

Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney is in hospital after being injured in a car crash.

Gaffney, who played the role of Robbie Jackson in the BBC One soap, was reportedly travelling home from a performance of Agatha Christie thriller A Murder Is Announced when the crash happened.

He was originally believed to be in a critical condition however his agent Dave Read has told The Mirror that he is “going to be okay”.

“I haven’t spoken to Dean myself but I’m hearing from family members that he is going to be alright – he’s very lucky. He’s in hospital being looked after today – he escaped with cuts and bruises. He’s going to be okay. It was very bad – he’s lucky to be with us.” – Dave Read, agent

Gaffney played the role of Robbie for ten years between 1993 and 2003 before making one-off appearances in 2004 and 2010, with the door open for further returns in the future.
